This desire is heavy on my waist.
This hope will break my back.
This frustration will make me whither.
This want will the brave crack—
‘Cause who ‘waits an eagle waits away youth
And who shoots every bird will waste strength.
But who knows tomorrow decides today
But who journeys what wearies the heart?
It’s he who keeps a vow.
He keeps a lock .
Note:
I’ve heard several marriages break when a spouse travels abroad and forms a distance. I thought that could be me, since I long for greener pastures too, and I feared that such a distance would make me sick.
Desire drives people mad, and it’s not just sexual desire; chasing fulfillment will do that too. Then I wondered whether patience and thoughtful decision-making can prevent us from such a disastrous end.
But I hope that we gain strength from keeping our commitments, honoring our promises to those we love or to ourselves.
